September Meeting (New Member Event)

The first meeting of the season will be held on Thursday 18th September at 6:30pm. The focus of this meeting will be to introduce new members to the club and to fishing the pond, but all members are welcome to attend. Long standing members will be present to answer questions and pass on information about fishing the pond in the fall. If any members want to turn up a little early to get help with their casting techniques we will make sure some of our fly fishing aficionados are on hand to give you some pointers. We will fire up the grill at 6:00pm, we hope to see you there.

Pond Stocking and Fall Opening Day

The tentative plan is stock the pond the week of October 13th and hold our Fall Opening Day on Saturday 18th October.

These dates are dependent of weather and pond conditions working in our favor. Final dates will be posted in next months blog post.

Firewood

Every winter season the club burns through at least one cord of seasoned firewood. We are always on the look out for local hardwood so if any members are having any tree work done let us know by emailing the club. We can organize some members to swing by and take some of the hardwood back to the club for splitting and stacking.

Summer Maintenance

A big thank you to Brad V and Dennis P for their work around the pond this summer. Brad has installed a new platform on the far side of the pond, by the big rock, so members will no longer have to 'Indiana Jones' there way to fishing this hot spot. Dennis took over the grass cutting and weed whacking this summer, saving the club money and keeping the banks in check around most of the pond.

Much needed new porch steps were installed by Paul D and Phil B. The old ones were getting dangerous and a hand rail will also be installed soon.

Anyone been fishing/catching???

If any members have any fishing trips and photos to share we are happy post them on the club blog and website.

In the late spring, member Paul K took a trip over to Roscoe, NY to fish the Beaverkill River and Willowemoc Creek with former member and our former fly tying teacher Roy S. Fishing was tough but the Catskills is a magical place to fish and a great 4 day trip was had.

A lot of members switch their focus to striped and largemouth bass during the hot summer months.

Let us now if you had any summer fishing luck, members always like to read and see about everyones fishing successes.
