October Fly Tying Night


The first fly tying night of the fall will be taking place on Tuesday 7th October.


Flies, materials and instructions can be found on the Fly Tying page of the club website.


Pizza slices at 5:30pm then tying starts promptly at 6pm.


All members welcome, no experience or equipment required.


October Members Meeting


The October Members Meeting will be held at 7pm on Thursday 16th October. Rollie and Bill's Beer-Can Chick'n is on the menu and will be served at 6:30pm.

Fall Trout Stocking


Fall trout stocking is scheduled for the 21st or 22nd October. Final date will be confirmed at the Members Meeting.


Fingers crossed for a stretch of cool nights and some much needed rain to get the water in good shape for the new trout.

Fall Opening Day


Fall Opening Day will be held on Saturday 25th October (if the trout stocking goes ahead as planned). This date will be confirmed at the October Members Meeting.


Freshly brewed coffee will be ready at 7:00am with the first cast bell marking the start of the season at 7:30am.


Still plenty of time to stock up on the mandatory woolly buggers and fall nymph patterns.

A Second Distance and Accuracy Casting Clinic


Last weekends Distance & Casting Clinic proved very popular and was well attended. Ben at LL Bean is keen to offer a second clinic to NSC members in late October or early November. This is free to members and runs as part of our partnership with LL Bean in Dedham who use our pond for some of their private lessons.


If you are new to the club and/or fly fishing this is a great opportunity to get some help and advice with your fly casting. If interested, drop Club president Dennis P an email to put your name on the list, he will follow up with further information.

Fly Fishing Show


Volunteers Needed


Needham Sportsman's Club will be hosting a table at the Marlborough Fly Fishing Show on all three days of the event (16th, 17th and 18th January 2026) at the Royal Plaza Trade Center in Marlborough. We use this event to promote our club and in the past we have gained many new members thanks to the positive volunteer work of members who sign up to man the table.


If you are interested in volunteering for one of the time slots please use the Sign Up Genius link below. We need two members per time slot over the three and members who volunteer get free access to the show on the day they volunteer.
