Brook Trout stocking moved to next week

The brook trout stocking scheduled for the beginning of December will now take place next week. Darlene at the Gilbert Trout Hatchery had some predator issues recently and asked to move the stocking out by one week.
We expect 100+ brook trout to be added to the pond next week, date/date/time to be confirmed. This supplementary stocking is being funded by the money raised at last months raffle/auction.
The BoD might ask members to refrain from fishing along the dam wall (where the trout are stocked) and out front of the clubhouse for 24 hours after the stocking takes place. This will givce the fish time to disperse and lose their schooling behaviors.
More information about the stocking to come at the start of next week.

Fishing Report
This week saw the first ice on the pond. About 30% of the pond had a decent skim of ice on Tuesday morning but a constant breeze and sunny weather on Wednesday got rid of the hard water.
Trout have been caught this week and the cold weather has seen fish take streamers deeper in the water than in previous weeks. Sink tip lines and bead head flies can be a good approach.
Bright flies for bright weather and vice versa isn't a bad rule to follow. Cast, wait, twitch, twitch, wait....strike!
